If you have mobility issues then you already know how difficult it can be to move around the bathroom. There are a lot of safety hazards in a bathroom such as wet floors, cramped spaces and obstacles that are hard to get around. There are many ways you can make your bathroom a much safer place and you can learn about some of those ways below:

Install non-skid flooring

You can install non-skid flooring or you can apply a non-skid tape to your floor and bathtub. This will allow you to move around the bathroom without worrying about slipping and falling due to water getting the floor slippery.

Install a comfort height toilet

Standard toilets can be difficult for a person with mobility issues to sit on and to stand from, this creates a hazardous situation. If you find you have a hard time due to your toilets height, you should consider having a comfort height toilet installed. This toilet adds a few inches of height to your toilet and makes it much easier for you to get on and off.

Install grab bars

Installing grab bars next to your toilet and shower will give you some extra support when you're in the bathroom. This will help you move around without worrying about losing your balance and getting injured.

Have the door reversed to open outward

If you do have an accident in the bathroom, you want to be able to get help quickly. If your bathroom door opens inward and you fall in front of it, someone will have a hard time opening the door to get to you. This is why it's a good idea to have your door reversed so it opens outward.

Get a walk-in bathtub

If you find it difficult to get in and out of your bathtub, even with the assistance of a grab bar, then you should consider having a walk-in bathtub installed. This is a large sized bathtub that has a door you can open to enter the bathtub through. Some of these bathtubs also have seats in them so you can sit down to wash yourself, making it easier for you to take a bath and get up from washing. The door closes tightly so you don't have to worry about water going out of it and getting all over the floor.

Once you make these changes to your bathroom, you will make it a much safer place for you and it will be more comfortable. A plumber can help you with most of these changes.
