If you have found a contractor to replace your roof, now you need to prepare for the actual process of having your roof replaced. There are a few things that you need to do to prepare your home and your family for a home roof replacement.

Clear the Area Around Your Home

First, you are going to want to clear the area around your home. If you have lots of outdoor furniture and goods stacked up against your home, you are going to want to move these items. You want the roofers to have clear access to your home. You don't want the roofers tripping over your kid's toys or your patio furniture. This will also help protect your belongings from any falling debris as well.

Make Space for Supplies

Next, your roofer is going to need to be bring in supplies to fix your roof. They may need to bring in shingles and wood and have them delivered before they start working on your roof. You are going to want to make sure that you clear out space for these materials. You are going to want to make sure that you have somewhere safe and dry to put these materials, such as on your patio or on in your garage.

What You Are Going to Do

Next, you need to decide what you are going to do. If you work during the day, having your roof replaced may not be that disruptive to your life. The work should be done when you get home, although all the supplies will be out until the job is complete. You are safe in your home when your roof is being replaced.

However, if you work from home, or if you are normally in your home during those times, you are not going to necessarily enjoy being subject to the noise and movement of some many people outside and on top of your home during this time. It may be better to have somewhere else to be during the day or to stay somewhere else so you are not around all the work that is going on. This can be a good choice if you normally are at home during the day.

If you have pets, you also need to think about what you want to do with them. All of the noise can be really nerve-wracking for your pets. It may be best to board your pets or take them out of the home during the day when the work is going on. That way, your pets will be protected from all the noise and movement.
